Aylesford (which means a "crossing place for all peoples") has a long established Priory (following a General Chapter (meeting) of Carmelites from across Europe) which led it to be revered as their spiritual epicentre. Visit the Priory The Friars features a wide variety of modern-day religious artwork, including sculptures, paintings, stained glass and ceramics. The Aylesford Pottery is one of a few making a range of handmade thrown and hand-built ceramics. Two master potters, Alan Parris and Billy Byles, run the pottery today Come and enjoy a peaceful walk in the Peace Garden.
A Map of the Priory grounds Bring the kids to feed the ducks and play in the vast fields. Pop into the Tea Room for delicious home-made snacks or try the Pilgrims’ Hall where you can treat yourself to a sumptuous meal made from scratch with local produce.
